The Institute of Migration is arranging a Festival “Finland in our Hearts” in Turku for expatriate Finns in July 1-4, 2011. We welcome Finns from near and far to take part in the event.

A committee is currently working on the program, which will include everything from seminars and lectures to pesäpallo and tango. Remember to note this very special event in your calendars.

Our website is not fully functional yet (as of 1.7.2010), but we are working on it. Finnish, Swedish and German versions are also upcoming.

The city of Turku will be the European Capital of Culture in 2011 together with Tallinn. The Capital of Culture program is the EU’s most significant cultural initiative with great international attention value. Turku has always been the gateway welcoming innovative thinking and perspectives to Finland and offers discoveries and experiences for everyone.

The City plays host to Europe's second oldest rock festival "Ruisrock" and the more recently established urban festival "Down By the Laituri". The summer sets the backdrop for the Medieval Market, the Turku Music Festival and various events along the River Aura. The unique Scandinavian archipelago opens up where the river ends.
