Immigrants, Police and Social Work

This EU funded project (1/2010 - 5/2011) aims at promoting the integration and social inclusion of third country nationals by searching the best practices in cooperation between police and social work. The research of best practices is transnational and comparative. The partner countries are Finland, Sweden, Spain, the Netherlands and Great Britain. Each country will research the best practices of their own countries by a literature review and a study of grey literature and undocumented practices. After collecting the material it will be analysed and put together on a website as a database of best practices. This database is in reach of all EU Member States. The best practices found will finally be edited as a book, which will be used when working with the other two main tasks in this project: production of education materials and developing an educational programme for police and social workers.

The project coordinator is Turku University of Applied Sciences. Funding for the project comes from European Fund for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals.
