Tutkimusprojekti - Research

Working title: Is the Finnish Trade Union Movement Ready for Increased Employment-based Immigration? - The response of the Finnish trade union movement to immigrants and ethnic discrimination in the labour market. (Dissertation)

The purpose of this research project is to investigate how, at different actor levels, the Finnish trade union movement is responding to immigration and ethnic discrimination in the labour market. The first part of the study looks at the responses of the union level (liittotaso) actors using the focus group method. The second phase consists of a comprehensive survey sent to all unions. In the third phase leadership of the central organizations will be interviewed. Lastly the Finnish data will be put in perspective with existing European literature. This research is funded by Palkansaajasäätiö and LabourNet Graduate School.
