Institute of Migration aims to promote and carry out migration and ethnic research and to encourage the compilation, storage and documentation of material relating to international and internal migration in Finland. It serves also as a resource site for genealogists.

Siirtolaisuusinstituutille uusi johtaja

Turussa toimivan Siirtolaisuusinstituutin uudeksi johtajaksi ajalle 1.1.2010–31.12.2014 on valittu Väestöliiton väestöntutkimuslaitoksen johtaja dos. Ismo Söderling. Hän seuraa tehtävässä eläkkeelle jäävää prof. Olavi Koivukangasta, joka on johtanut Siirtolaisuusinstituuttia sen perustamisesta, vuodesta 1974 lähtien. Ismo Söderlingin esittely A new Director has been appointed to the Institute of Migration Docent Ismo Söderling has been appointed director of the Institute of Migration, effective on 1st January 2010. He succeeds professor Olavi Koivukangas, who has headed the institute since 1974 and is now retiring. Söderling is currently director of the Population Research Institute of the Family Federation.
