Guest lecture

Franck Düvell, Assistant Professor at the University of Oxford, will visit the Migration Institute of Finland for a guest lecture titled “The Great Migration of Summer 2015: Trajectories, Journeys and Hubs”

Franck Düvell is an Associate Professor and Senior Researcher at COMPAS (The Centre on Migration, Policy, and Society) at the University of Oxford. Düvell has a PhD in Sociology, and he has worked as a research fellow and lecturer in Italy, Great Britain, and Germany. Düvell’s fields of expertise include irregular migration, highly skilled migration, and aspects of migration politics and management on EU and international level.

Düvell has also examined the great migration of 2015–16 in the project Unravelling the Mediterranean Migration Crisis (MEDMIG). His talk at the Migration Institute of Finland will focus on the trajectories, journeys, and hubs related to this recent migration flow.

Düvell will also give a lecture at the Ministry of the Environment in Helsinki on 24.5.2017 at 10:00–11:00 (room: Pankkisali). In the lecture titled ”Unravelling the Great Migration of 2015/16: Flows, drivers and policy context” he examines political dimensions of the events that took place in 2015.
