The Emigrant register
The emigrant register serves genealogists in Finland and
abroad. The information can also be used for scientific research. The main
databases are the passport records of the provinces and magistrates and the
passenger lists of the Finland Steamship Company, the references to books and
newspapers and the data on Finns deceased abroad from the Foreign ministry.
In the end of 2010 the number of records was ca. 750,000. Most of these are accessible on the Internet. The register also
features databases which are not yet computerized.
